3D without glasses, Cross-Eye HD

Posted in Uncategorized by admin - May 12 2011

I created this small tutorial for those who don“t know this technique. If you master it, it is fun to do your own 3D photos. All you need to do is to take two pictures of the same scene with an offset of about eye distance. For things that are far away you can increase the distance. Also works with video. I can recommend the video of the glass artist Mieko Noguchi on Youtube.

3D without glasses-cross eyed

Posted in Uncategorized by admin - Mar 04 2011

See 3D without any 3D glasses. See how to. Sit square in front of your monitor, with the image directly in front of you, at about arm’s length Sitting further back makes it easier — you don’t need to cross your eyes as much — but makes the image look smaller Make sure you keep your head level horizontally, tilting your head will prevent you from merging the images While keeping the stereo pair of images in the centre of your vision, slowly cross your eyes The stereo pair will go out of focus and you will seem to see four images, as shown in the animation above If you find it hard to cross your eyes, it can help to hold a pen in front of you and look at the tip with the stereo pair in the background Gradually cross your eyes more and more — if using a pen to assist, start it close to the monitor and move it towards your nose Continue crossing your eyes more, untill the centre two of the four images overlap and you see three blurry images, as in the animation above Try and hold the centre image together — it is possible to “lock” it in place and see it as one image The “locked” centre image should appear in 3D! Now the tricky part, focus — while holding the 3D image in place, relax your eyes — drop the pen from your field of view if you are using it If you can keep the 3D image locked and relax your eyes, it should eventually pop into focus, as in the last frame of the animation above

HOW TO VIEW IN 3D: Click on the “3D View Style” menu then select how you’d like to view. Red/Cyan are pretty common but see what works best for you. If you don’t have glasses, then select “cross eyed” and just cross you eyes slightly to make the 2 videos overlap into 1. This is normally how I view 3D videos without glasses but if you’re not able to overlap images with your eyes then you may want to just purchase a cheap pair of glasses somewhere online or buy a 3D movie from the store and use those glasses. Don’t forget to click the full screen button on the bottom right of the video player as well… it helps if you have glasses. Sorry, Disney’s fancy RealD polarized glasses don’t work on these. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND… : This video was only a test for me to see how YouTube would handle it’s new 3D feature. If this becomes popular and people are able to view it then I’ll put more effort into the next one. I’d love to do this in my usual video quality. IF THIS DOESN’T WORK FOR YOU: – Cross-eyed can be difficult if you don’t have control over your eye muscles. Try sitting away from the screen a bit or just get some practice in. There are a lot of cool videos like this on the net. – If you’re using glasses and the image seems to be inside out then use your glasses the other way around. Some glasses are backwards. If your glasses can seperate the 2 images then it may be your computer monitor. A burned out, dull or discolored monitor may not work with your glasses. -STILL doesn

Now, watch 3D movies on YouTube, using the “Parallel” viewing style option. No glasses, no headache! Blocks the right image from the left eye, and the left image from the right eye. End result: one image, clear and in 3D! No more “extra” images on the sides! Search on YouTube using “yt3d” and you’ll find many 3D videos! Create your own 3D movies on YouTube! Tag your video with yt3d:enable=true to enable the pulldown menu of 3D-viewing options. Use the Bivi Divi to watch – parallel viewing style, no glasses, no headache! Hey kids, don’t forget to check out Fluffy the Vulture, a new book in 9 languages – now “foreign” languages can become familiar!
